The Verdict

Thong Ba Le

Their crime was justified
by the power in their hands
not by the spirit of the land
nor by his desire to testify

He was handcuffed, standing in a cage,
in the middle of a crowded court center
surrounded by witnesses who were designated
by his accuser.

They had convicted him of helping to organize
a liberal front that would promote and fight
against a party that violated their human rights
and he did not deny his guilt in the crime.

The unjustified justice had been a tool
for the dictators who tried to turn him into a fool.
